Well in later stages of the game you seldom research an item with your RCs. You research it with breaktrhoughs. I researched Tckon68 in 4 turns a 3 RCs, getting 6 Breakthroughs during the time. I have double checked my research and unfortunately, every 4th genratuion tech I have I purchased out of SRP so I don't know the actual cost. However, I am far enough along in research on fifth generation weapons, engines and armour to see they all conform to a cost of 48. For example, with no research bonus, I spent 1 turn on 1RC and 10 on 4RC on Mk III Fusion Engine. That means I added 21 points to the tech. If the cost is 48, I should have 43.75% done.
